Title: Pinnacle Maneuver.
Description: This painting by Don Bell depicts a South African Air Force Aerospatiale MK111 Alouette helicopter, no. 632 of the 16th Squadron, maneuvering in a gap in thick cloud covering the Dolerite pinnacles of the Sneeuberg (Snow Mts) mountains of the “Great Karoo” (Place of Thirst). In clear weather these mountains overlook hundreds of kilometers across the Valley of Desolation. The Sneeuberg also surounds the Settler town of Graaff-Reinet and the Sundays River. Located in the in the Eastern Cape of South Africa, the SAAF carried out military exercises with the South African Defense Force in the area. This helicopter is now a static display in the SAAF Port Elizabeth Museum.
